SIAM, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics is an American Society which promotes in all possible ways the use of applied mathematics. One of his main iniciatives is try to set up student chapters. These are a group of students interested in applied mathematics and that organize different activities to show and promote that.

There are a few of this chapters outside United States of America. One of this is in the Facultat de Matemàtiques i Estadística of theUniversitat Politècnica de Catalunya. It is composed by students of different areas (mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, ...) that join their effort to collaborate in this fantastic and interesting world of applied mathematics.
